Nazareth College’s Health centre is open from 8:30am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday and is operated by AHPRA Registered Nurse Melanie and AHPRA registered Paramedic Megan. We offer a first aid service for illness or accidents that occur during school that may impact your child.
The main role of our Health Centre staff is to assess your child’s concern, attempt to relieve symptoms and encourage the possibility of staying at school. If required Melanie or Megan will contact the parent/carer/guardian and or call for medical assistance.
In order for us to provide optimal care to each student according to their needs, it is crucial that you provide updated student health information to the school. Please update any relevant information via our parent portal PAM.
Melanie and Megan also collect and collate medical information for camps, immunisation programs and record any newly diagnosed medical conditions as informed by parents and ensure ongoing compliance with MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools) care, safety and wellbeing policies as they relate to first aid.
If the school does not have the correct plans, authority forms and medical management plans in place, your child will not be able to attend camps or extracurricular activities until these are provided to the school.
COLLECTION OF UNWELL CHILD
If your child is unwell during the school day, they are expected to go to sick bay where our school nurses will attend to them. Students are not to contact their parents/carers/guardians themselves if they are unwell. We ask for your support in this by redirecting your child to sick bay should they contact you during the school day.
The Health Centre or the Student Services team will contact parents or guardians if the student needs to leave the College. Parents are required to collect the student from Student Services and sign out using the touch screen.
